Introduction to ISK Forward 2030
At the start of the 2023-24 school year, we began a strategic planning initiative designed to shape our school’s future through an updated vision, mission, core values, and commitment to high-quality learning. This process began by engaging all school stakeholders to gather aspirations and insights into the skills, knowledge, and dispositions our students needed for future success. At the same time our teachers set out to define what represents High-Quality Learning in today’s modern interconnected world.
Beginning later that year in January 2024, five Internal Reflection Committees composed of staff, parents, and students came together to focus on five strategic areas identified to have the largest impact on future learning at our school. This process was significant because it also included input from our students. Simultaneously, the Board of Trustees reviewed and refined our Purpose Statements and identified two Strategic Areas that complement and supported the work of the Internal Reflection Committee goals.
By May of 2024, after extensive feedback from stakeholders, the process culminated in a celebration of ISK’s 30th Anniversary, where draft plans were shared for community input. Over the following months, the Board of Trustees, Leadership Team, and Internal Reflection Team Leaders collaborated to finalize the Strategic Imperatives and Action Plans.
From this, the ISK Forward 2030 Strategic Plan was developed. It reflects the collective vision of our community, setting forth a roadmap focused on preparing our students for the realities of their future. It ensures that what our students learn today, how they learn, and in what environment they learn contributes to a new set of skills, knowledge, and dispositions necessary for their future success.
We prepare our students to make the world a better place by ensuring that in all of our classes, units, and lessons we develop and nurture academic and personal growth, creativity, critical thinking, and courage.
